Emily Hall

MOT, BS(Bio), BS(HS-Acu), Acu(Reg)

Good Beginnings Wellness is where all children become their best selves. From minor digestive complaints to Feeding disorder and mild developmental delays to complex medical and developmental needs, I help all children have the highest possible quality of life. Emily became an Acupuncturist after becoming disillusioned with the outcomes she saw in her Occupational Therapy practice. She knew it was possible for children to get better, not just cover up problems. After working in a clinic in Chicago owned by an Occupational Therapist/Acupuncturist, Emily knew what she had to do. She took extensive training in Cranial Sacral therapy and other manual therapies and became an Acupuncturist. Today she treats a wide variety of conditions, but focuses on feeding, digestive disorders, developmental delay, autism spectrum, neurological conditions and complex needs.

FAQs

What can pediatric acupuncture help?

Most things! Chinese medicine is a complete system of medicine. Examples of conditions treated:
allergies
anxiety
asthma
attention difficulties
behavior regulation
colds/flus
depression
developmental delay
digestive problems
dyspraxia and other movement difficulties
Emotional regulation
feeding difficulties
pain
Plagiocephaly- flat head
Sensory integration
Neurological conditions such as concussion, CP, post stroke or seizure, TBI

Does it hurt?

No. Treatment is child driven. Treatment is always about communicating with the child and working with their preferences. If they don't like something, I don't do it. Chinese Massage is my first choice of treatment, but I also use magnets, acupressure, low level laser, microcurrent, physiotape, shonishin (Japanese needleless technique) and brushing. Children generally really like their treatments and home programs.

How long does it take?

Evaluations are generally 1hour. Follow up sessions are generally 30-45min. For minor acute issues like colds/flu, 1 session and a home program might be enough. For chronic conditions, generally I recommend 5 sessions to get an idea or how children respond to treatment. For feeding and complex needs, treatment might be 6-12months.
